IR snapshot: China-focused companies

Are Canadian-listed companies based in or focused on China more likely to embrace using social media for investor relations?  And, if so, why?  Well for starters, when your business operations are on the other side of the world, rich media including videos, podcasts and slide presentations, and more frequent updates can help North American investors understand your company, while feeling more at ease by being able to see (even if not first hand) what they might be investing in.  Added benefit for investors --- time and money saved from making less business trips to China.

IR snapshot: Boyuan Construction Group's use of social media

Boyuan Construction Group (TSX-V: BOY; BOY.DB), a fast-growing construction company in China, recently started an investor relations blog and Twitter account. Boyuan is using social media as an additional channel for its news flow and to provide more context / colour to investors on the company's projects and growth opportunities. The company's investor presentation is also easily shared online via SlideShare.

IR snapshot: China Wind Power's use of social media

China Wind Power International’s investor relations efforts incorporate social media to make information about the company more widely accessible and in hopes of increasing the engagement of the company's shareholder base.  

To date, these efforts include the use of Twitter, SlideShare, Facebook and its new investor relations blog on Posterous.
